The rain is back, and now its spoiling the softball diamond.

"We're rained out today," said Heritage coach Dickie Hightower, whose Lady Patriots were to host two of the tournament's opening rounds today.

The opening rounds of the 8S-AAAA region high school softball tournament, scheduled to begin today at Heritage and Loganville, have been postponed for today. The game schedule will be pushed until tomorrow, beginning in the same order that they were to be played today. Rockdale's game at Loganville in the Red Devils' portion of the bracket, was also postponed and moved to tomorrow.

Tomorrow, weather permitting, Salem will play Winder-Barrow at 4 p.m. at Heritage High School. Heritage will play the winner of that contest to determine, along with Rockdale, who moves on to the next round play at either Loganville or Madison County on Wednesday.

"The forecast said it should stop raining this afternoon and we can try and play it tomorrow," said Hightower. "But that certainly isn't a guarantee."

There is a 20 percent chance of rain for tomorrow in Rockdale County.
