The first weekend of college football has come and gone, but the water-cooler reviews of the highlights are just heating up.

During those "did you see that" discussions is bound to be East Carolina's game-winning hail Mary catch in a 51-49 win over Tulsa on Saturday.

It's an especially highlighted play for Conyers as former Heritage standout Justin Jones is the red-shirt freshman receiving all the praise.

Jones, a 6-foot-8, 252 pound receiver, playing in his first game for the Pirates of Conference USA was called upon in the desperation opportunity.

Jones delivered, using his large fram to reach above several Tulsa defenders and came down with the ball and ECU's opening win.

Jones graduated from Heritage in 2008 before redshirting with the Pirates.

At Heritage he played on both sides of the ball, coming up with 71 tackles, including 22 for loss on defense. On offense, Jones played tight end in the option offense, grabbing 11 catches for 115 yards and five touchdowns. Jones earned a defenseive all-state selection by the Atlanta Journal Constitution and the Associated Press.
