The Loganville Red Devils spoiled the home opener for the Rockdale Bulldogs with a 21-6 victory at Reid Stadium Friday night.

Loganville took the opening kickoff and marched down the field. Quarterback Garrett Ford took only four minutes to orchestrate a sixty-five yard drive that put the Red Devils up 7-0.

Penalties and turnovers kept both teams off-balance through most of the first half.

Rockdale got on the board late in the second quarter. Neville Hewitt went untouched into the end zone, scoring what would be the Bulldogs' only points. The point after was no good.

The first half closed with Rockdale down 7-6. The two teams combined for eleven penalties for seventy yards and three turnovers.

The second half did not start well for the Bulldogs. On the third play from scrimmage, Loganville's Aaron Kennedy stepped in front of an errant pass and returned it for six points.

Loganville added to the score on a time-eating drive, culminated by a Bruce Wilcox touchdown run, which put the Devils up 21-6.

The clock became the Bulldogs' enemy. Despite a long drive in the fourth quarter, the ‘Dogs ran out of clock, and the game ended in defeat.

"I think in a couple of weeks, we're going to have one heck of a football team," coach Mike Etheridge said. "We're just trying to get better every game."
