Seminoles’ girls win track title

Salem's girls track team conquered the Gladiator Invitational last week, scoring 122 points for first place in the meet held in Athens.
Kentrell White took first place in three events, while also grabbing a second and third place finish for the high point total among girls.
She won the 200-meter dash in 26.10, the 400-meter relay in 48.72 and 1600-meter relay in 4:05.54. White also took second place in the 100-meter with 12.79 and third place in the long jump, with a jump of 16-01.50. Alyx Pinkston placed first in the 400-meter with a time of 59.06, was on the 400-meter relay team, and finished third in the 200-meter with 26.37.
Shannon Christian was first place in the 800-meter with 2:32.26 and participated in the 400-meter relay and 1600-meter relay. Briana Smith was the Salem girls track team's other first place finisher with a time of 5:40.82 in the 1600-meter run. The Rockdale boys and girls track team also had a successful week, winning a dual meet against Cedar Shoals and Greene County on Tuesday.
Both teams also participated in the Clarke-Central Invitational on Saturday.
